Agnes Robillard Everson, 99, a lifelong resident of South Hadley, MA and Sunapee, NH passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on November 15, 2022. Agnes was born in Holyoke, MA on April 10, 1923, to the late Camilla and Zenon Robillard.
The family moved to South Hadley when Agnes was two. She graduated from South Hadley high school, played on the girls' basketball team, graduated from Bay Path Business School (now Bay Path University) and upon graduation worked at the New Haven Railway Paper Mill. She later worked for Hampshire Paper Company where she met her future husband, Bill.
After her marriage to Bill in 1949, she became a mother of four, supported Bill as he grew the Everson Distributing Company and later became President of the Company after her husband's untimely death in 1969. She retired from Everson Distributing in 1995 having previously transitioned the Presidency of the company to her son Bob.
Agnes was a South Hadley Town Meeting Member, a Whiting Street Fund Commissioner, an Election Poll Worker, a Trustee of the South Hadley Village Cemetery, and a member of the South Hadley Historical Society. She was a 97-year parishioner of St. Patrick's Church where she served on the Parish Council, was a member of the choir, a Lenten luncheon volunteer, and a member of the Ladies Guild.
As members of the Radcliffe Canoe Club, Agnes and Bill enjoyed sailing on the Connecticut River and years later on Lake Sunapee. Agnes spent 67 summers enjoying her cottage on Lake Sunapee where so many wonderful memories were made with family and friends. She was a long-time supporter of both the Lake Sunapee Protective Association and the Sunapee Historical Society. In addition to boating and sailing, Agnes enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and supporting her children and grand children in their many activities.
In addition to her husband, Bill, and her parents, Agnes was predeceased by her beloved brother, Paul Robillard, and his wife Rita, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Nellie Everson, her brother-in-law Harold Everson and his wife Melva, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her children Paula Pietras and her husband Lenny, Carla Everson and her husband Christopher Rossi, Robert Everson and his wife, Linda, and Barbara Knightly and her husband Thomas, her grandchildren Joseph Pietras, Alison Pietras, William Pietras, Elizabeth Rossi, Gregory Everson, Laura Everson Biber, Kara Everson Mezzano, Katie Everson Snavely, Matthew Everson, Anna Everson Williamson, and Samuel Everson, 9 great grandchildren, her nieces Ann Robillard Lukasik, Janet Everson Gross, and Joan Everson and her nephews Dennis Robillard and Jay Everson. She also leaves behind her dear friend Gertrude Kennedy.
Agnes' family wishes to thank Dr. Frank Croke for his care, comfort, and reassuring manner. They also want to thank the dedicated staff at the Lake Sunapee VNA/Hospice Center and the Cooley Dickinson Hospice Center for their knowledge, support and compassion.
The wake for Agnes will be held at the O'Brien Family Funeral Home in South Hadley on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4pm-7pm. The funeral will begin at the O'Brien Family Funeral Home at 9 am on Friday, November 18, 2022. The funeral mass will follow at 10am at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley. Burial will be at the Village Cemetery following the mass.
