Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Alan Michael Fleming, who left us on March 12th, 2025, at the age of 80. Mike, as he was fondly known, was born in Clearfield, PA, to the late James and Anna (Kane) Fleming. He was a proud graduate of South Hadley High School, where he not only excelled in football, basketball, and track but also forged lifelong friendships with his classmates.
Mike was a respected and much-loved member of the business community. Originally naming his business after his grandmother, Daisy, his hard work and dedication allowed it to grow, impacting countless families and communities around the world. His commitment to his local community was steadfast. He proudly served on the Granby School Board and was an active member of both the Masons and the Lions Club.
Mike's passions were many, from motorcycle riding to sailing, embarking on adventures along the Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Florida coasts, including an unforgettable journey sailing to Havana, Cuba, and back. His adventurous spirit took him on several global excursions, including trekking through Nepal. In his younger years, he enjoyed scuba diving and golf, sharing those interests with his children. At the age of 70, Mike ran his first half marathon alongside his daughters, a testament to his incredible determination and zest for life.
Mike loved all things Jeep and was a dedicated New England sports fan, sharing this passion with those around him. Above all, Mike spent his days as an energetic and vocal number one fan of his favorite team, his family. Mike's greatest joy came from being "Papa" to his cherished grandchildren—Micah, Ireland, Alexis, Jadyn, Lillian, Connor, William, and Piper. His love for them knew no bounds, and he filled their lives with laughter, music, and fun. Whether playing, dancing, or singing, Papa lived every moment with a heart full of joy.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Marcia (Hughes) Fleming; his three sons, Michael J. Fleming and his wife Lori of South Hadley, Jonathan D. Fleming and his wife Lisa of Belchertown, Miles D. Fleming and his wife Rachelle of Frederick, MD; his two daughters, Jessica A. Fleming Gale and her husband Derek of Bellingham, WA, Rebecca E. Borella and her husband Jay of Bellingham, WA; his stepchildren, Ron Saltarelli and his wife Karen of Granby and Natalie LaCoste and her husband Eric of Ludlow. He also leaves behind his two sisters, Pat Blood and Sheila Fleming, and her partner Walter Solzak, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Mike was predeceased by his brother-in-law Richard Blood Jr. and his brothers, James B. Fleming III and Paul D. Fleming.
Mike's life was one well-lived—full of love, adventure, and meaningful relationships with family and friends. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.
