Alicja Makusiewicz, 71, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, March 7th, 2025. Born and raised in Poland, she moved to the United States in 1995 with her loving husband and children in search of better opportunities for her family.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend. She was loving, hardworking, and a generous person. She cherished her faith and Polish heritage, celebrated holidays with family and friends, and never failed to bring her delicious, homemade Polish dishes. She took several trips back to Poland to visit family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, hosting Sunday family dinners, and spending time outdoors, whether at the beach, planting flowers in her garden, or simply enjoying the sun in her backyard. Above all, she treasured her 50-year marriage to her beloved husband, Alojzy Makusiewicz.

Alicja leaves behind her husband, Alojzy Makusiewicz; children, Chris Makusiewicz and his wife Dawn (Enfield, CT), Katarzyna Bernash and her husband Scott (South Hadley, MA), and Karol Makusiewicz (Suffield, CT); four grandchildren, Samuel Bernash, Morgan Makusiewicz, Haley Bernash, and Marcin Makusiewicz. She is survived by her sister-in-law Janina Sierzputowski (Chicopee, MA), niece Aneta Rybicki and family (Belchertown,MA), and several relatives in Poland, including her sister, Jadwiga Krzeminska and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franciszek and Rozalia Skrodzcy, and sister Anna Kowalewska.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 13th, at 9:00 AM from the O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley, followed by a Mass at St. Anthony Church, 56 St. Anthony St., Chicopee, at 10:00 AM.
