IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anne "Betty"
Dout
November 18, 1924 – June 30, 2021
Anne Elizabeth "Betty" nee Dimock Dout of Holyoke passed on June 30, 2021. Betty was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on November 18, 1924, to Alan and Ruth (nee Sanford) Dimock. On June 1, 1946, Betty married James P. "Jim" Dout at the Federated Church of Springfield. Betty was the consummate homemaker and caretaker. Her parents, her children, her grandchildren, and her aunts all will attest to the level and skill of her care. Betty could throw a party, particularly family anniversary parties (the family needs two hands to count the elaborate 50 th and 60 th anniversary parties she threw for her parents and aunts). Betty loved to cook: her talents with sugar and sweets were adored by her family (especially her grandchildren who would get handmade Christmas and Easter candies), and she planned and cooked church suppers across Chicopee and South Hadley for 40 years. She volunteered with the Women's Guild, King's Daughters, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for her son Alan, a junior King's daughter leader and a Girl Scout leader. She is survived by her children Alan (Darlene) Dout of Chicopee; Elizabeth (James) Meister of Sylvania, Ohio; Janet (Jeff) LaRoche of Chicopee; grandchildren, Laura Meister; Jeff (Krysta) Meister; Emily Meister; Katy (Michael) Halsmer; Robert (Jennifer) Dout; Jason (Amanda) Dout; Kimberly Dout; Stephen LaRoche; Madalyn LaRoche; great grandchildren, Ella; Aubrey; Alexander (A.J.); Nathan; and Olivia; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Jim; sister, Jean Bennet of Virginia Beach; and grandson Christopher Scott Dout McGrory. Special thanks to Landmark Health for its support and care. Funeral arrangements are being made with Curran-O'Brien in South Hadley. Visitation at the funeral home is Thursday, July 8 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services will be held Friday, July 9 at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church in South Hadley followed by burial in Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Hospital in Springfield. For more information or to make online condolences please go to curranobrien.com.
