IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anne M.
Quenneville
February 24, 1928 – February 15, 2025
Anne Marie Quenneville (O'Donnell) of Suffield, CT passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2025 just days before her 97th birthday. Anne was born in Holyoke, MA on February 24th, 1928 to Theresa and John O'Donnell. She attended South Hadley High school where she met the love of her life Raymond Quenneville. Ray and Anne dated briefly before he joined the Navy to fight in WWII after high school. Anne told Ray that she had no interest waiting for him while he fought in the war but they could talk when he returned home. Anne went on to earn a bachelors degree in French from Mount Holyoke College in 1949. Fortunately for Ray, she was willing to rekindle their romance when Ray returned home from the war and they were married on December 29, 1951. They celebrated 72 years of marriage and both lived independently at their home in Suffield until a few weeks before their deaths - just nine months apart.
Anne worked as a realtor in the Suffield area when her children were in high school. She loved her family immensely and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved reading and sewing, cooking, taking care of her many beautiful plants and beloved animals as well as spending time at her beach house on Cape Cod. She had an artistic sensibility and enjoyed painting with acrylics and sculpture. A true timeless beauty with bright blue eyes, Anne was fiercely independent, resilient, and always let you know what was on her mind - for better or worse! She and Ray traveled to Europe for his work as a design engineer as well as a few trips in their retirement.
Anne is predeceased by her beloved husband Ray and her son John Quenneville - the three of them were affectionately nicknamed "the greats" by their great grandchildren. Anne also joins her sister Ruth Perlowski and her grandson Jeffrey Ast. She is survived by her daughter Joan Quenneville and her husband Gary Ast of Windham NH, her granddaughter Julianne Strathman and her husband Evan of Windham, and her treasured great grandsons Griffin and Theo. Anne also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and family members including nephews Richard and Lee Marion who were immensely supportive of Anne and Ray in their final years. A special thank you to the staff at Windham Terrace in Windham NH for their exceptional care of Anne during her brief stay there for her final days.
