Antoinette “Tosia” Bara, 57, of South Hadley, MA, passed away peacefully in her home on the warm evening of June 25, 2026. Born on February 24th, 1969, in Holyoke to a loving Polish family, she was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her unmistakable 1980s spirit, her love of classic rock and roll, and the wild, free heart that carried her through life.
Throughout her career, Tosia was known as a hardworking and dependable woman. From her years at local Big Y establishments to her time as a massage therapist at Jeri Lynn's Hair Care, she approached every job with dedication and a willingness to help others. Those closest to her knew that same selflessness extended far beyond the workplace.
At home, Tosia found joy in helping her mother care for the garden, spending countless hours pulling weeds, planting flowers, and enjoying nature. She was the one everyone could count on; the steady hand who quietly shouldered responsibilities, looked after those she loved, and put others before herself without ever asking for recognition.
Tosia is survived by her beloved son, Anthony; her mother, Antoinette "Toni"; her brother, Larry, and his wife, Debbie; her nephews, LJ (Sierra) and Johnny (Kelsey); and the many friends whose lives were enriched by her presence. She was predeceased by her father Lawrence J. Bara.
Though her time with us was far too short, Tosia's strength, generosity, fierce independence, and vibrant spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her. While she may have left this Earth, a loved one is truly never gone, for the lessons she had taught, the memories she had shared, and the subtle & gentle reminders we all will be given will carry on for generations to come; like blossoming flowers on a warm spring morning, a bright star glistening in the night sky, or the greeting of a curious butterfly fluttering its wings.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tosia's life with visitation on Friday, July 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at O'Brien Family Funeral Home in South Hadley. A Funeral Mass will take place the morning after, on Saturday, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Church. Following the Mass, a celebration of Tosia’s life will be held at Hamel’s Summit View Banquet House in Holyoke.
