Arthur Menard, 91, died Monday June 7, 2021 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 13, 1929 and grew up in South Hadley, MA. Arthur served in the Korean War. Following in his father's footsteps, Arthur went on to be a successful machinist, owning Colonial Diesel Components in Westfield for more than 20 years. Arthur raised his family in Southampton, MA and is remembered as a father who taught his daughters that life is about working hard and creating lasting memories together.  Arthur's lifelong love of fishing brought him and his wife, Jeanne to Westerly, RI. He was captain of his boat, the Bali Hai, where years of adventures were had. It was aboard the Bali Hai where Arthur would build lifelong friendships with the gang at Avondale Marina. His family and friends enjoyed many trips to Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and all throughout the New England coastline. Arthur is pre-deceased by his parents, Margaret and Valmore, his wife Jeanne, and sister, Teresa who died at the young age of 7. Arthur leaves his best friend and brother, Gerard Menard of Hardwick and his family, his daughter Cheryl Hislop and her husband Rob of Belchertown and his daughter Gail Flood of Easthampton. He also leaves his grandchildren, Steven George and Jenna Bishop of Belchertown and their spouses Vicki and Mike, Jaclyn Thomas-Kennedy, Michael Thomas and Margaux Flood of California and Jaclyn's wife Meaghan and Michael's wife Anna, and Abigail Flood of Easthampton. As well as his 6 great grandchildren Louisa, Blake, Vince, Chase, Ansel and Kendall. Arthur leaves many other loved ones, including his 3 stepchildren Michael, Lisa and Mark and their families, nieces, nephews and many friends.  Arthur had a special way of making everyone around him feel loved. He adorned many names of endearment over the years; dad, grandpa, uncle, minnow, bib, captain. He lived life to the fullest and took everyone around him along for the ride. He loved fishing, ice sailing, boating, sailing, skiing, and feeding the birds. He was a mastermind for invention and on rainy days, you could find him in his basement creating something new. He did everything with the utmost love, passion and generosity – and never turned down a hug. He lived a life to be proud of and we thank him for the many years of memories, adventures, hugs and kisses. Gone fishing, be back someday.
