Bernadette Fernandes, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 12th. She was born on March 4 ^th , 1937, in Nizny Hrusov, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of late Joseph Krajnak and Anna Adams Krajnak. Bernadette was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ceasar S. Fernandes of 62 years, her sister, Ann Krajnak Griffin, her brother, Joseph Krajnak, and brother-in-law, Peter Gazda. She is survived by her daughter Ann-Marie Fernandes, son Ceasar P. Fernandes and his wife Laura; grandsons Ryan, his wife, Jillian, Eric and Jason; newly born great grandson, Chase. She is also survived by her sister Susan Krajnak Gazda of North Port FL. and many loved nieces and nephews. Bernadette started a career as a part time baker in her younger years until she flourished at Acme Chain in Holyoke before retiring after 48 years of service. Bernadette's true passion was helping take care of her beloved nieces & nephews and then her grandsons. She cherished every moment with Ryan, Eric and Jason and took great pride in them. She always ensured each grandson had their very own personal favorite dessert of their choosing waiting for them each visit. Bernadette unfortunately passed prior to meeting her great grandson, Chase Ceasar Fernandes who was born on March 6 ^th , although we are sure Bernadette and Ceasar otherwise known as "VoVo" are smiling down brightly on him. A memorial is being held at the O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley with calling hours on Thursday March 23 ^rd from 9:00 am to 10:30 am followed by a mass at St. Theresa Church in South Hadley at 11:00 am.
