Betty Jane Pennell, 90, died peacefully on December 20, 2024, at home in South Hadley, MA, surrounded by her family. She was born in Union, NH, to Frank and Bessie Drew. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Edwin, and all five of her siblings.

A devoted mother and Nanny, Betty's fierce love and independent spirit touched everyone she met. She was known for her endless family dinners, beautiful rose garden, passion for photography, and the joy she took in caring for others. Betty leaves behind cherished memories of her storytelling, card playing, homemade donuts, and creative hats. Above all, she taught us the importance of love, family, and well-stacked wood for a long winter.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many loved ones who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Family will hold a private burial. Donations in lieu of flowers are suggested in her memory to the Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst, MA or Western Mass Elder Care in Holyoke, MA.
