Carl C. Zimmerman Jr., 61, passed away on April 22, 2025, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Holyoke, Carl was the beloved son of the late Carl C. and Betty E. (Kirwan) Zimmerman. He was a graduate of South Hadley High School and made South Hadley his home for his entire life.
He worked at the Hu Ke Lau and Fountain Plating before finding his long-term role as a Track Production Foreman with Amtrak, where his dedication and work ethic were deeply appreciated.
Outside of work, Carl found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved deep sea fishing, boating with his dear friend Mike, and cherished trips to Block Island and Florida. He was also a talented cook and an avid music enthusiast.
Carl is survived by his loving partner, Kathleen MacArthur; his siblings Linda Gendron and husband Ronald of South Hadley, Jim Zimmerman of Florida, Douglas Zimmerman and partner Gail Hauver of Granby, and Jean Zimmerman and husband Brian DeLancey of Easthampton. He also leaves behind his nieces Brianna Zimmerman and husband Alex Robtoy of South Hadley, Amy Cormier and husband Ronald of Belchertown, Kristen DeLancey of New Haven, CT; nephew Ronald Gendron and wife Kim of Manchester- by- the- Sea; nephew-in-law Chris O'Connell of Acton; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. He was predeceased by his niece, Carolyn O'Connell.
Carl's family invites all who knew and loved him to a funeral service on Saturday May 3rd at 3:30 PM at The O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley, MA 01075.
