Claire M. (Kirby) Klekotka, 97, died peacefully Sunday afternoon surrounded by her loving family. Claire was born in Holyoke, lived in South Hadley most of her life before returning to Holyoke 30 years ago. During the war, she worked at the Springfield Armory and later became a home health aide where she worked as a visiting nurse into her 80's. She was very active as a 4H leader, teaching sewing, loved Bingo and her beloved dog "Amber". Her husband Casmir J. Klekotka died in 2009. She leaves her children Linda Pope, Joyce Klekotka, Paul Klekotka and David Klekotka; two grandchildren Dawn Morini, Karen Hufnagel and a great granddaughter Brianna Hufnagel. She also leaves a brother Philip Kirby and sister Jean Clegg. Besides her husband, Claire was predeceased by a brother Richard Kirby and sister Alice Koske. Visiting hours will be held at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley on Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00pm. A committal service will be held in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Monday at 10:00am. Social distancing and masks will be required.
