Curt John Downs of South Hadley passed away Wednesday, November 18 at his home. He was 60 years old. He was born in Bartlesville, OK on July 26, 1960 to Gaynell Downs and the late Charles Downs. Curt spent most of his life in South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School, where he played football, hockey and tennis. He went on to attend college at Holyoke Community. He spent most of his adult life working in the healthcare industry in many different healthcare aide positions. As with his father, Curt was an avid New England sports fan. He loved the Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. However, his favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. Curt had a love for both vacationing and living on Martha's Vineyard, as this was the birthplace of his parents. He loved spending time with family and relatives. They all meant the world to him.

Curt had a love for music and attended many concerts in his lifetime. He also owned a prize antique Porsche in which he enjoyed driving around town. Later in life he became an avid cyclist. Curt was diagnosed with Cushing Disease when he was in his 30's. He made annual visits to NIH in Maryland to assist with their research program as he had a very rare form of the disease. He is survived by his mother Gaynell of South Hadley and brothers Bart and Brian of Walpole, Ma.  He is also remembered by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Curt's funeral services will be held privately. Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
