Obituary

David W. Gonet of South Hadley passed away February 8th, 2020 at the age of 59. Born in Holyoke on October 21, 1960, to the late Joseph and Mary Jane (Gwozdz) Gonet. David was a bartending legend at Francie's Tavern for over 34 years. He was known for his passion for sports and was the resident expert on the inner workings of every professional sports team in Boston and beyond! David loved being anywhere near the ocean, whether it was on trips to Hampton Beach with Becki and Bob, his highly anticipated vacations to Florida with "The Donna's" and Joey or a quick daytrip to Misquamicut. He was in his element when he was soaking up the sunshine with his toes in the sand. You can't talk about Dave without mentioning his love of good food, particularly pizza, popcorn and of course, leftover dinner for breakfast. By far his favorite pastime was the racetrack, or really anything you could place a bet on. If anyone knew the stats on what the outcome was supposed to be, it was Dave!  His positive outlook on life and his loving nature shone through to everyone that met him. Even though David faced challenges with his eyesight, he could see more than most people ever will. He always looked for the good in everything and never let anything curb his enthusiasm for life. He was always up for new adventures. To know David was to love him. His memory will be treasured by his devoted and loving wife of 24 years, his "Lil Angel," Donna (Descant) Gonet, his daughters, Joni Fleming and husband Richard Fleming, Andrea Moriarty and husband Edmond Leclerc , his grandchildren, Hannah Fleming, Ethan Fleming and Tabatha Leclerc, his brother Joseph Gonet and partner Donna Early, his sister Kathy Marino and husband Joseph, his brother Michael Gonet and wife Holly, his goddaughter Jennifer Knowles, many nieces and nephews, his friend,  confidant and the one who loved him first, Mark "Mosquito" Manijak and his large loving family that he gained through marriage.  He will be eternally missed by his family and his infinite circle of friends. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Donations may be made in David's memory to Commission For the Blind, 436 Dwight St. #109, Springfield MA 01103 https://www.mass.gov/orgs/massachusetts - commission - for - the - blind
