IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald
Gagne
April 16, 1933 – April 27, 2025
Donald Gagne, 92, of South Hadley, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday April 27th. Born in Holyoke, he was the beloved son of the late Arthur Gagne and Lena (Leclair) Gagne Ducharme.
A devoted member of Saint Patrick's Church, Donald lived his faith fully, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Sacristan, and an active member of the Men's Club. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a proud member of the Cursillo community.
Donald served honorably in the U.S. Army and later built a career with his skilled hands as a carpenter and a proud member of the Carpenter Union. His love of work and community was evident at Brunelle's Marina, where he built and repaired docks until the age of 90. He was an avid gardener, loved the many dogs who came into his life, and enjoyed feeding the cattle at the Brunelle's farm. He also attended many softball games to support his great granddaughters, Ara and Meadow.
He is survived by his three sons: Joe Gagne and his wife Jill of Holyoke, Andre Gagne and his partner Lori of South Hadley, and Jay Gagne of Provincetown, six cherished grandchildren: Allison Gagne and her husband Michael Richter of Nashua, NH; Andre Gagne and his wife Cassidy of Virginia Beach, VA; Kara Bombard and her husband Brandon of Springfield; Raymond Gagne of Springfield; Daniel Powers and his wife Jen of Enfield, CT; and Alexis Powers of Easthampton, seven great-grandchildren: Ara, Meadow, Roman, Logan, Saoirse, Riley, and Maya, who lovingly called him "Pepere-Pepere", his dear cousin, Josie Brunelle of South Hadley, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks go out to Linda Newton, Maddie Brunelle, and Tina Sullivan for their constant love and support for Don throughout the years, along with his spiritual guides, Fr. James Nolte, Fr. Tom Shea, and Deacon Dave Bergeron whom he worked closely with at St Patrick's Parish in South Hadley.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marlene (Monette) Cote Gagne, who passed in 2016, his sister, Louise Newton, and his son-in-law, Jack Delmond.
