Edith L. (Richards) Ducharme, 82, died peacefully Friday morning surrounded by her loving family. Edith was born in South Hadley, the daughter of George and Meriza (Savage) Richards, and was a lifelong resident of South Hadley. She graduated from St. Jerome's High School and attended Elms College. She worked as a bookkeeper with her husband Daniel B. Ducharme, Jr. C.P.A. An avid golfer, she played in the Women's League at Westover Golf Course, Ledges Golf Club, and courses in Jupiter, FL. Edith loved to paint in various mediums including oil, watercolor, pen & ink, and pencil. She was most happy spending time with her family on trips to Disney World, Hampton Beach, Ogunquit, ME and Lancaster, PA. Edith leaves her husband of 60 years Daniel B. Ducharme Jr.; four daughters Anne D. Sadick and her husband Jonathan, Diane "Dolly" Werenski and her husband Stephen, Susan Ryder, and Catherine Lawler and her husband Robert. She also leaves a sister Claire Richards; seven grandchildren Benjamin and Jessica Sadick, Meriza Davis, Mackenzie Werenski, Liam Ryder, and Daniel and Derek Lawler; and a great granddaughter Jennifer Sadick. She was predeceased by her siblings Roger, Elbert, and Anne Richards. The funeral will be held at Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, Tuesday at 9:00 am with Liturgy in St. Theresa's Church at 10:00 am followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery all of South Hadley. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. For more details please visit curranobrien.com.
