Everett John Washburne, 68, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026. He was born on May 2, 1958, to Allen and Cora Washburne. Everett spent most of his life in Massachusetts, while also living for periods of time in Vermont and Oklahoma. He most recently lived in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Everett was a fun-loving, light-hearted, and kind man who had a way of making the people around him laugh. He was a hard worker and spent many years working at Jim’s Mobil. He was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and proudly followed his team through the good seasons and the bad.
Everett loved the simple things that brought him happiness, especially Western movies, Elvis Presley, and John Wayne. He had a big personality, a good sense of humor, and a warm heart, and he will be remembered by his family and friends for the laughter and memories he shared with them.
Everett served his country for 12 years as a member of the National Guard, a commitment he was proud to make.
He is survived by his two sons, Everett Washburne Jr. and Ethan Washburne; his three grandchildren, Mackenzie Thomas-Washburne, Alicia Moulton, and Erin Washburne; and his three surviving sisters, Annie Eismont, Linda Washburne, and Melissa Washburne. He was divorced from Kathleen Berube, and the two remained good friends throughout the years.
Everett was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed, but the laughter, love, and memories he gave to those who knew him will live on.
A service celebrating Everett’s life will be held at O’Brien’s Family Funeral Home in South Hadley on Thursday October 8th starting with calling hours from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a funeral home service at 7:00 p.m.
