Obituary

Francis J. Quinlan, 89, died Sunday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He grew up in South Hadley and has lived in Granby for 70 years. He worked as a carpenter his whole life, working for Marois Construction before he retired. Francis was a proud Marine Corps veteran of WWII and the Korean War and was a past Commander of American Legion Post #266 in Granby. He and his wife Betty loved to camp, coach little league baseball together and belonged to the Chick-Mates Square Dance Club. Francis was known as a great storyteller. He leaves his beloved wife of 68 years Betty (Jarvis) Quinlan, six children Deborah M. Laramee and her husband Paul of Granby, Daniel Quinlan and his wife Cynthia of Leydon, David M. Quinlan, Douglas F. Quinlan and his wife Karen of Granby, Drew T. Quinlan and his wife Kathy Rogers of South Hadley and Darlene Brunetti and her husband Stephen of Granby, 13 grandchildren Dawn, Michael, Nicholas, Cara, Holly, Daniel Jr., Charlene, Tricia, Christopher, Samuel, Bethany, Brandon and Nathan and 11 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday January 15 th at 10 am at Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley followed by Mass in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby at 11 am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Sunday January 14 th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
