Frank Justin Alves, Sr, 74, beloved husband of 55 years to Susan M. (Tracy) Alves, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, surrounded by his loving family that he held so dear. Frank was born on August 19, 1950, in Holyoke, MA, the son of John and Maria (Fernandes) Alves. He was raised and educated in South Hadley and was a graduate of Springfield Trade High School. A longtime resident of Springfield, his life's vocation was his passion, being in the automotive business for over 60 years, beginning as a technician and ascending to Service Manager for many years with the Balise, Jerry Rome, Bertera, Topor and Burke organizations. Even in retirement, he continued to bestow his experience and expertise with Lyndale Garage in Springfield. For a number of years, Frank was a proud member of the Putnam Automotive Advisory Board, the General Motors Only the Best Club, and the General Motors Service Advisory Board. Frank had many interests including a love of muscle cars and drag racing that he shared with his daughter, attending many races together. He was a long-time bowler, most recently in the St. Cecilia's and Shaker Independent leagues enjoying the opportunity to bowl with his son and grandson on a regular basis. And he had a deep love of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal music and faithfully attended many of his son's performances both near and far. But his greatest enjoyment came from captaining his boat along the CT river alongside his first mate, family and friends.  Frank leaves behind his loving wife, Susan of Springfield, and children, Tracey Alves of Holyoke, Frank J. Alves, Jr and his wife, Lisa of East Longmeadow, and Justin Alves of Springfield, brother, John Alves of Hartford, CT, four cherished grandchildren, Shelby Johnson and her husband, Adam of Milford, NH, Jerel Alves of Holyoke, Joshua and Catherine Pignatiello of East Longmeadow, as well as a great granddaughter on the way. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 21, for a celebration of Frank's life and spirit from 4-8 PM at O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley, MA. A funeral home service will be held for Frank on Tuesday April 22, with family and friends arriving at 10 AM for a blessing at 11 AM.
