Harold E. Hastings Jr.

1956 – 2021

South Hadley – Harold E. Hastings, Jr., 64, died Tuesday in Holyoke Hospital.  Harold was born and raised in Springfield and has lived in South Hadley for the past 25 years.  He retired in 2017 after 30 years as a Firefighter for the city of Springfield.  Harold served with the United States Navy from 1975 – 1978.  He leaves his wife of 25 years Doris "Cookie" (Lapointe) Hastings; a son Eric Hastings and his wife Ivanna; daughter Jeannine Ruccio and her husband Paul; his mother Therese Hastings; stepchildren Jay Patruno and his wife Andrea, Jason Patruno and his wife Sara and Zachary Carvalho. He also leaves a brother James and his wife Sylvie; sister Jean Makhlouta and her husband Sam, and eleven grandchildren.  A private funeral will be held in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.  The Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  For online condolences please visit curranobrien.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital.
