Helen M. Racine

1927 – 2020

South Hadley – Helen M. (Laperle) Racine, 92, died peacefully June 6th at a local nursing home.  Helen was born and raised in Holyoke, graduating from Holyoke High School.  In 1950 she moved with her husband, Donald H. Racine to South Hadley where they raised their six children.  Helen leaves behind a son Donald F. Racine and four daughters, Janet Fay and husband Thomas Fay, Maryann Patruno and husband Joseph (Jay) Patruno,  Susan Racine and partner Alfred Carillo, and Ellen Racine-Weatherwax and husband John Weatherwax.  Besides her children she leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Helen was  predeceased by her husband Donald in 2004,  her oldest son Kenneth A. Racine in 2010, granddaughter Sarah Patruno, and  sister Una Beloin.  Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley on Wednesday at 11:00 am, immediately followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.  The Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dakin Humane Society.   For online condolences please visit curranobrien.com.
