James W. Dwyer, 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Holyoke Medical Center. James was born in Suffolk, England, son of the late William W. and Ella (Brunning) Dwyer. He grew up in Holyoke, before moving to raise his family in South Hadley in the 70's. James worked professionally as an installation engineer for Verizon. In his spare time, James enjoyed coaching girls' softball and basketball, playing golf with his friends Peter and Russ, watching sports, and vacationing to Hampton Beach with his grandchildren. James leaves behind his loving wife, Donna of South Hadley, a daughter, Deanna French and Husband Christian of Granby, 3 grandsons; Alex Gilmet of Westfield and Patrick & Benjamin French of Granby, two sisters Patricia Pluta and Janet Dwyer, both of Holyoke and several nieces and nephews including his niece and namesake Jaime Capalbo. He was predeceased by his daughters Theresa Gilmet and Susan Dwyer and his brother-in-law Peter Pluta. The funeral will be Monday September 11th starting with a calling hour from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley followed by a funeral home service at 11:00 am.
