Obituary

James F. McDonald, 85, died Friday April 28th in Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late James and Muriel McDonald and has lived all his life in Chicopee. He enlisted in the Marines at 17 years of age and served five years. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune and at the Marine Barracks in Washington DC. James worked 50 years as a metal finisher at Savage Arms. He also loved the New York Yankees and played softball for years in the Chicopee leagues. He was predeceased by his wife Maureen (Lyons) McDonald in 1999. He leaves two sons James T. McDonald and his wife Kimberly of Chicopee and Brian J. McDonald of West Springfield, two brothers Bruce W. McDonald of Granby and Donald L. McDonald and his wife Sue of Indian Orchard, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Calling hours at the O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley will be Wednesday May 3 rd from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, 12300 Twinbrook Pkway ., Suite 410, Rockville, MD 20852.
