James Brown Tunis, 87 (October 28, 1931 – August 30, 2019)

James passed away on August 30, 2019, reuniting with his beloved wife of 57 years, Reeva, who passed on April 9, 2013.  He was born in Buchanan, TN, the son of the late Elsie M. (Sweatt) and Melvin Tunis.  Jim's service in the United States Air Force brought him to Westover Air Force Base.  Following his Honorable Discharge, he and Reeva settled into their family home in Chicopee, where they raised four children and enjoyed many years of family celebrations with them, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Jim's greatest joy was to be surrounded by his family, and as a devoted grandfather he was a huge influence on their young lives.  Jim was predeceased by his first grandchild, Jillian Marie (Stevens) Bajumpaa.  He leaves his children: Jo-Ann Stevens and husband Jeff, Donna Wiley and husband Glen, Glenn Tunis and wife Judi, and James Tunis and girlfriend Lisa DaCosta.  He will be missed by his cherished grandchildren, Justin and Jason Tunis, Jordan Stevens, E.J. Wiley, Brian Deane, Kristy Konicki, and Chris Bajumpaa, and great-grandchildren Colin and Keeley Dean, and Katelyn and Kyle Konicki.  He is also survived by his brother Charles Tunis and sister Mary Roberts, and was predeceased by brother Robert Tunis and sister Patricia Morgan.  The family will host a casual gathering for family and friends to remember Jim from 5-7 pm on Friday September 6 at Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., So.
