IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane
Frizzell
March 15, 1928 – January 23, 2023
Jane (Bruce) Frizzell , 94, passed peacefully in the presence of family on January 23, 2023. Born in Norwood, MA, she lived most of her life in Attleboro, MA. After graduating in 1946 from Attleboro High, Jane went on to work and raise a family with her loving husband of 66 years, William E. Frizzell, in South Attleboro, until the early 1990s, when she retired from a successful career as a respected insurance professional, enjoying many years thereafter in town until a move to the Pioneer Valley in 2010. Jane's interests were many and varied. A skilled piano player, a gardener with the greenest of thumbs, a golfer, a painter, a skier, a traveler, a volunteer, a meticulous homemaker, and a lover of food and entertainment, Jane pursued these interests and more with family and friends well into her 90s, inspiring others to do the same. If she wasn't bringing more beauty to her home and yard, she was planning the next adventure - a well organized trip to the Pacific Northwest or a spontaneous day trip investigating back roads of the northeast, she was always up for exploring new places and things, especially in retirement. An encouraging friend, a passionate learner, she was curious about everything, especially people, creating new friendships and investing in lifelong ones, with her commitment to connection and her ability to actively listen to others. Jane possessed a sharp wit, a mischievous sense of humor with an appreciation of the ironic, and more than anything she relished the company of her family and friends, having a love for entertaining, games, and just being together. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Warren E. and Lillian (Waterson) Bruce, and a brother Warren E. Bruce, Jr. She is survived by two sons: Peter A. of Cedar Key, FL and William B. of Cape Cod, MA; a daughter Jayne A. Mercier and her husband Mitchell of Granby, MA; two grandchildren: Emma Frizzell Shields and her husband Sam Shields of North Andover, MA and Joshua Potter, his fiancée Lorrane Menezes, and their daughter Natalie; and their mother, Leslie Frizzell, all of Martha's Vineyard, MA; her Mercier family here in western Mass that helped them make a second home here, as well as many, many extended family and friends that she cherished dearly. Her family would also like to acknowledge the teams at the Loomis Communities in both South Hadley and Springfield for all their support. There are no calling hours; but all who wish to attend are welcome at a service of remembrance to be held graveside at 12:00 noon at Newell Burial Ground, South Attleboro, MA on Friday, January 27, 2023, followed by a social celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, Jane would rather you remember her by doing all the things - go outside, plant a flower, walk in the snow, learn something new, engage in community service, talk to that person you've been meaning to talk to for a while but haven't, be kind...
