Janet Spyker

1927 – 2020

GRANBY – Janet (Clarke) Spyker, born on June 26, 1927, died peacefully at home on May 9, 2020.  Janet was born and raised in Manchester, CT, daughter of the late Frank and Jessie (Stewart) Clarke.  She moved to Granby in 1961.  She received her master's degree in Psychology and worked as a psychologist in the Amherst/Pelham School System until her retirement in 1982.  She filled her retirement years with family, gardening, traveling and swimming.   Janet is pre-deceased by her parents, brother, one sister and daughter Nancy Spyker.   She leaves one sister, Nancy Spear of Florida, and her children, Stewart and his wife Elaine of Pennsylvania, William and his wife Brandi of Florida, Kathyrn of Oregon and Susan and her husband Marc of Massachusetts.   Janet also leaves granddaughters Kate (Jason), Annette (Ryan), Emily (Eric), Jazmin (Matthew), Kristin (David), Amy (Matthew), Mindy (Austin), Brianna (Matthew), Selva and Elizabeth,   and 5 great grandchildren, Alice, Ryan, Gage, Ashlynn and Nancy. Due to recent events, a graveside burial service will be held at a later date.  The Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.  For more details and online condolences please visit curranobrien.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to Baystate Hospice Care Springfield MA.
