Jean Stewart
1919 – 2017
Chicopee – Jean R. (Rudolph) Stewart, 98, left this life on December 2, 2017. Her sparkling smile and thoughtful kindness, which brightened the spirits of all who met and knew her will be deeply missed. Her gardens of flowers she loved and nurtured also brightened her neighborhood. Jean grew up in Fairview and graduated from Bay Path College. She was a member of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Faith Methodist Church, where she married Allan William Stewart on May 10, 1941. Allan predeceased her in 2002 and her son Allan Jr. in 1977. She leaves her daughter Heather Kindness, her ever helpful and sustaining son Ian Stewart, her loving granddaughter Alana Kindness, her brother-in-law William and James Stewart and nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to express gratitude to the devoted family members who faithfully assisted her in essential ways during her later years at home as well as to family and friends who remembered and visited her, cheering her and contributing greatly to the joyful essence of her life, sweetening her final years. Jean's family is also grateful to those staff members at Williamansett Center West who gave her truly loving care and attention and who were a source of great comfort and sunshine through her several years there. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a future time when the flowers she so dearly loved are blooming. The graveside service will be held in Village Cemetery in South Hadley on Saturday at 2:00pm. The Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home is handling all arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Methodist Church in Fairview or to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
