IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeffrey M.
Robert
March 10, 1980 – January 13, 2021
Our hearts are filled with sorrow, Jeffrey M. Robert, 40, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2021 in Stamford, CT. Jeff was born and raised in the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts, son of Lyne Laliberté and Donald Robert. Jeff was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School and received a BA in Communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He spent most of his professional life working in the Boston area and was the Morning News Executive Producer at NECN/NBC10 Boston for a number of years. While there, he and a colleague won an Emmy for their heart-wrenching coverage of the tragedy at Sandy Hook. He had previously been the Assistant News Director at WGGB in Springfield, MA where he started as an intern while attending UMass Amherst. Most recently, Jeff was the Morning Executive Producer at WNBC in New York City. Those who worked with Jeff say he was "so smart and so funny" – "a talented news professional who really knew his stuff" – "a complete joy to work with" – "a rock star in the business" – "he hired me and changed my life" – "amazing boss and friend" – "a brilliant, charming, insouciant, hilarious guy and a calm and consummate pro in a crazy business." Jeff cherished the time spent with family and friends and loved taking long walks with his beloved dog, Mookey. He loved being in nature and especially loved spending time at the cottage at Hammond Pond in Goshen, MA. He loved to take long car rides through winding backroads and to discover new places. One of his favorite places to visit was Quebec City near where his maternal grandparents were born. He so enjoyed the trip he and Ryan took to Hawaii and the trips to Italy and Oaxaca, MX with his mom and step-dad. He was so loved by so many including his family and his many friends and colleagues. Jeff was known for his beautiful smile, caring spirit, gentle soul, amazing hugs, making everyone laugh with his quick wit and dry humor, singing at the top of his lungs to 70's music and, of course, for all who know him, his moves on the dance floor. As his goddaughter Mylin says, "Jeff always makes everything more fun." He loved playing softball, played for "The Force" in Boston for a number of years and, like his paternal grandmother "Neena," was a huge Red Sox fan. He even managed to get to one of their World Series games at Fenway Park. Jeff leaves behind his loving partner of 14 years Ryan Higgins; his mother, Lyne Laliberté and her husband/Jeff's step-dad, Tim Wright. He is survived by his loving grandparents, Emile and Nicole Laliberté (Pep and Mem to Jeff); aunt and godmother Josée Laliberté and her husband John Witaszek; uncle Martin Laliberté and wife Becky; Jeff's goddaughter and cousin, Mylin Laliberté Witaszek and cousins Benjamin and Ella Laliberté. He is also survived by Ryan's mother, Denise Higgins, his stepsisters RaeAnn and Samantha Wright and his much-loved dog, Mookey and cat, Moo-Moo. From his father's side, Jeff leaves behind his father Donald Robert and his brother Andrew Robert. Jeff was predeceased by his grandparents, Donald and Sandra (Graziano) Robert. He is also survived by his aunt Debbie Robert; uncle and godfather Tommy Robert and wife Michelle; cousins Shannon Dion, Jessica Morin, Kara Morin, Elizabeth Gazella, Dan Robert, Tim Moriarty, and Nick Robert. He is also survived by his many friends including his "brothers" Matt Huard and Chris Monfette, great aunts and uncles and second cousins here and in Quebec, Canada. You will never be forgotten dear Jeff. "Make me a channel of your peace where there's despair in life, let me bring hope, where there is darkness, only light, and where there's sadness, ever joy." The services for Jeff will be private but a celebration of his life will be scheduled at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to Boston Children's Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 and the Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St. Springfield, MA 01105. Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Please visit www.curranobrien.com for more information.
