Joanne Marie Bristol passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Holyoke, Joanne was raised in Chicopee and graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School. She continued her education at Holyoke Community College and went on to work for Technofax and Scott Graphics. Many will remember Joanne for her bright smile, warm heart, and the ability to make everyone feel welcome—whether in her personal life or during her years as a waitress at Friendly's in South Hadley and Hadley.

A devoted fan of UMass basketball and the Boston Red Sox, Joanne rarely missed a game and loved cheering on her teams. In recent years, she and her beloved husband could often be found enjoying a meal and conversation at The Boat House and Johnny's in South Hadley.

Joanne shared 55 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Thomas A. Bristol. She is also survived by her brother Kevin Donnelly and his wife Donna of Chicopee, MA; her son Matthew Bristol, his wife Christina Messier-Bristol, and their children Jenna and Nathan Obremski, as well as Noah Bristol and his partner Lauren Murphy, who lovingly cared for Joanne during the last two years of her life; her daughter Shannon Romanowski, her husband Drew, and their sons Kason and Nolan; and her chosen daughter Carly Brunault. Joanne also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cherished family friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Eleanor and William Donnelly, her brothers Brian Donnelly, and her beloved son Todd Bristol.

Joanne's kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher Home, 1165 North Pleasant Street, Amherst MA 01002. Calling hours at the O'Brien Family Funeral Home in South Hadley are Wednesday May 7th from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Funeral service will be Thursday May 8th at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
