IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John F.
Bombard Jr.
February 26, 1942 – July 18, 2021
John Francis Bombard Jr., 79, was called home on Sunday July 18th 2021 while surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Springfield, MA he was the son of the late John Sr. and Ida (Stearns) Bombard. John graduated from Commerce High, excelled athletically and would go on to play semi pro football for the Springfield Acorns and Hartford Knights. He was a lifelong New York Giants and Atlanta (formerly Boston) Braves fan whose pastimes also included a passion for horse track racing in Saratoga. Because of an autoimmune disease, John was unable to join the Marines which was his childhood dream, but he was always a huge supporter of our military. John's ultimate pride and joy was his love for family. He is survived by his adoring wife of 40 years, Kathleen (O'Connor) Bombard; his loving sons Jonathan Bombard, Christopher Mongeau and wife Stacy, and Todd Mongeau and wife Kerrie. Additionally he leaves behind his cherished grandsons Tyler, Zac, Eli and Nathan and his great grandson Ryker who all lovingly called him Bakka (a name created by Eli when he was a baby). John also leaves behind many cousins and also friends who became family over the years. John will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and his smile. His wish would be to be remembered for his sense of humor, his love for a good prank, his knack for random trivia, and most importantly his devotion to his family. A celebration of life will be arranged by his family at a later date. John and his family would be honored to have donations in his remembrance made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org . Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. For more information or to make online condolences please go to curranobrien.com.
