He also enrolled for a year at University of Hartford. John was an avid antique collector and dealer. He found many treasures at the Brimfield Antique Show and local flea markets which he sold through his own antique business called Trumpet Vine Antiques. He also specialized in caning chairs to complement his business. John loved all aspects of community theater including onstage acting, set design/construction and backstage manager. He was involved in many local theater groups for many years including The Suffield Players, The Opera House Players and Somers Village Players. He performed in various musicals including Fiddler on the Roof, Little Shop of Horrors, and Once Upon a Mattress. He loved musicals and show tunes, and owned a plethora of albums that he would play throughout his home over the years. John decorated extensively for all holidays, but his favorite was Christmas. He would often leave his huge and beautifully decorated trees and Santa collection up well into the new year. John was an avid gardener who loved tending to his beautiful gardens. His imaginative and unique floral arrangements graced the tables in his house. John was a key volunteer at the King House Museum in Suffield and he often sourced from his private collections to support seasonal displays in the museum.

John was the very beloved son of Anne and the late Raymond Quenneville, and brother to Joan Quenneville and her husband Gary Ast of Windham NH. Uncle to Julianne Strathman and her husband Evan of Windham NH, and the late Jeffrey Ast. Great Uncle to Griffin and Theo Strathman.
