John (Marty) Wozniak (age 67) 12/25/52 – 12/13/20
John was born on Christmas Day in 1952 at the Westover Air Force Base Hospital in Chicopee, MA. He grew up in South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School in 1970. He is the son of the late John & Anne Wozniak formerly of South Hadley. He started his culinary career at the former Jolly Bull Restaurant in Amherst and went on to be chef at the former Riverboat Lodge in South Hadley for many years. From there he became chef at Wyckoff Country Club in Holyoke where he was also a member of "Arnies Army". He was an avid golfer and was previously a member of the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley where he had a hole in one and was also a Jimmy Young tournament winner. John went on to start his own restaurant called "LaPosta's Gourmet Delicatessen and Catering located in Granby, MA. He was well known in the community for his delicious Au Gratin potatoes which were a hit at his many catering functions. He loved snowmobiling, fishing, playing pool and being in the outdoors. He retired in 2018 from Sweet Life Foods in Springfield after many years of service. He was a fun loving guy who always left you laughing with the words "Peace, Love, Dove and Woodstock" He was previously married to Cynthia (Jackson) Wozniak also of South Hadley. He leaves his two older brothers Michael Wozniak and his wife Eileen of South Hadley, along with his brother Leonard Godek and his wife Marilyn of Savannah, GA. In addition, he leaves a nephew James Wozniak of Chicopee along with his grand niece Olivia Wozniak and grand nephew Hudson Wozniak. He also leaves several aunts and cousins. The Wozniak family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Willimansett East Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care of John over the last 2 ½ years. The wake will be held on Sunday, December 20 th from 2 – 5 p.m. at Curran O'Brien Funeral Home located at 33 Lamb St., South Hadley, MA. A private funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley followed by a Christian burial at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery also in South Hadley.
