Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY - Judith Ann (Marcure) Gelinas, 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 26, 2024. Born in Springfield, Judith "Judy" was the daughter of the late Leo and Doris (Kerr) Marcure and the daughter-in-law of the late Albert and Alvena Gelinas. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Judy raised her family in Chicopee Falls with her beloved husband Robert A. "Bob" Gelinas who passed in 2022. Bob and Judy were married for 68 years. After having renovated their historic home in Chicopee Falls, Bob and Judy later moved to South Hadley where they would enjoy the last thirty-seven years of their lives together. They spent many weekends at their country home in Plainfield where Judy enjoyed and appreciated the natural surroundings. She liked to ski, both x-country and downhill, walk country roads and made several adventurous fishing trips to Quebec with Bob. Judy played golf and enjoyed gardening. She was also an excellent cook. Her gourmet meals, apples pies and apple squares were enjoyed by many. Judy was an elegant woman with a beautiful mezzo-soprano voice. She taught music at Shriners Hospital, played the piano and sang in her church choir. She was also invited to sing as a soloist at Christmas service and at Springfield Symphony Hall.
