Karen S. Gerber, 68, of Bethlehem, PA passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 8th, 1956, she was the daughter of the late George D. Scheibel and Evelyn W. Scheibel Dillon. She grew up in South Hadley, MA, and lived in Longmeadow, MA and West Hartford, CT before moving to Bethlehem, PA to be closer to her son and daughter in-law. Karen was a 1974 graduate of South Hadley High School before pursuing further education at the University of Massachusetts and Bay Path College. Karen worked as a mortgage broker for the former Bank Boston and held various Information Technology positions of increasing responsibility at JP Elastomerics and K&M Electronics. Outside of work, Karen was known for her decorating, artistic endeavors and love for travel.  She was predeceased by her parents, ex-husband, Stuart M. Gerber, her brother, George D. Scheibel Jr, sister, Marianne Harrington and niece, Ericka Harrington. She leaves her son, Evan D. Gerber (Marcia) of Bethlehem, PA, her brother, Jeffrey A. Scheibel (Sarah Paretti) of Micco, FL, her sister, Elizabeth D. Scheibel (Paul Boudreau) of South Hadley, MA and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Bella and Mia.  Friends and family may meet for a funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church, South Hadley, MA at 11am on Friday May 23, 2025. A visitation period from 10am to 11am will be held at St. Patrick's Church before the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Jerome's Cemetery, Holyoke, MA. Memorial contributions may be made to Lehigh Valley Humane Society or Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The O'Brien Family Funeral Home, South Hadley has been entrusted with the arrangements.
