South Hadley-Katherine E. (Sherman) Schark, 77, passed peacefully on Tuesday September 10th at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. She was born in Chicago, IL daughter of the late Walter and Rosemary Sherman. She was a retired RN from Yale New Haven Hospital. Kathy has lived in South Hadley since 2019. She was a dedicated volunteer and political advocate who also rescued many Bichon Frise dogs and had a wonderful network of friends who laughed with her often telling dog stories.  Kathy was a fantastic knitter and created beautiful art with as a hobby.   She was predeceased by her husband Gary Schark in 2018. She leaves a loving and dedicated son, Robert Schark and his wife Amanda of South Hadley, two brothers Ken Sherman of FL and Wally Sherman of TN, two granddaughters, Summer and Lilah and her lovingly rescued dog, Molly. Calling hours will be Tuesday September 17th from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley followed by a celebration of life at the funeral home at 6:00pm.
