Margaret M. (Roberts) Mercer, 77, died Monday in Holyoke Medical Center. She was born and grew up in Holyoke, daughter of the late Louis and Althea Roberts. She later lived in Chicopee and Granby before settling in South Hadley. Margaret was a hard worker at Mt. Holyoke College and also worked as a piece worker for Photo Mount before retiring from Eureka Book Lab. She was a volunteer at the South Hadley Senior Center where she enjoyed serving her community. In her spare time she enjoyed Bingo at the K of C in Chicopee. Margaret was an extraordinary cook and loved to cook for her family. She enjoyed growing her beautiful flower bed in the front yard every year. She especially loved spending time with family and friends on the deck during the summer months. She leaves her husband James P. Mercer, a son Lance Finster of VA, two daughters Kendy Taupier and her husband Daniel of Chicopee and Darby Bashista and her husband Douglas of South Hadley, two brothers Lenny Roberts of Westfield and Ray Roberts of Pittsfield, two grandchildren Kaitlyn Bashista and Marc Taupier and a great grandchild Kai Thomas. She was predeceased by her brothers Ronnie and Wayne, her sisters Carol and Jackie and her granddaughter Heather. The funeral will be Saturday December 13th starting with calling hours from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the O’Brien Family Funeral Home followed by a funeral home service at 11:00am. Burial will take place in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. For more information
