On Monday, August 3, 2020,  Marion Louise "Lou" (Winter) Hamilton, 88, died after a period of declining health.  Born in Derby, CT, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Voigtlander) Winter, she received her early education in the Ansonia, CT public schools, and was a graduate of Bates College with a degree in Mathematics.  Later she studied at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, L.A. State College, and UMASS.  Mrs. Hamilton was a teacher in Chester, VT; Glendale, CA, and at South Hadley High School.  She later tutored privately in math for many years.  She was married to her beloved husband, Charles Hamilton, for 46 years prior to his death in 2003.  Her brother, Robert Winter, also predeceased her.  She leaves three children and their spouses; Laurel (Wolfgang) Fremgen of Schriesheim, Germany; Charles (Mary) Hamilton of Chesapeake, VA; and Karen (Patrick) Sabbs with whom she lived for many years in South Hadley.  She also leaves seven very dear to her heart grandchildren; Leonie and Mirjam; Christopher, Jeremiah, and Benjamin; and Aaron and Chloe; two great-granddaughters, Ruby and Reese, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Curran-O'Brien of South Hadley is entrusted with final arrangements.  Family and friends of Lou are invited to a graveside ceremony to be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at 12 noon at Evergreen Cemetery in South Hadley.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church where Lou was a member for over 60 years, First Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, South Hadley, MA  01075, or to Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts, 1325 Springfield St., Feeding Hills, MA  01030, or to Bates College, Office of College Advancement, 2 Andrews Road, Lewiston, ME,  04240.
