Obituary

Mark P. Menard, 68, died Sunday April 26th at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Roger and Marie Claire (Fournier) Menard. Mark grew up in South Hadley and lived in Holyoke before moving back to South Hadley. He worked as a clerk for Stop and Shop. As a young man he enjoyed flying recreational aircraft, and later took up hobbies such as shooting, where he won numerous trophies and reached expert level. He taught gun safety courses and personal protective courses. He taught his children and many local youth gun safety and ran a Junior Rifle Club. He was a member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed collecting, working on, and riding motorcycles, camping and boating. He was especially fond of the community he found at the Western Mass Yacht Club. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and had a laugh you can't forget. He leaves two daughters Amy Menard Larochelle her husband Jeff Larochelle of Chicopee and Melissa Allis of Conway, a son Paul Menard and his husband Steven Suty of Agawam, his sister Lynn Poulin and her husband Ron Swiderski of Westfield, and the love of his life, Holly Allen of Worcester. He leaves 6 grandchildren, Alyssa Perusse, Jeffrey Larochelle Jr, Grettle Allis, Lincoln Allis, Dyna Allis and Briar Allis. Mark rescued his dog Tanner and they were inseparable companions. He leaves an ex wife Margaret Menard. A private graveside service will be held at Notre Dame Cemetery. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
