IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary E.
Boisselle
March 25, 1932 – January 17, 2024
Mary E. (Counter) Boisselle, 91, was born March 25, 1932 to George and Mary (Carabine) Counter. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 17, 2024. Mary grew up on Center Street in Holyoke and graduated from Holy Rosary School in 1950. She met Gerald Boisselle at Valley Arena as they shared their love for dancing. They married on July 26,1951 and spent over 60 years together. In 1961, Gerald and Mary moved their young family from West Street in Holyoke to Lombard Street in Chicopee where they happily resided their entire lives.
Mary was proud of her Irish heritage. She loved making Irish soda bread and celebrating traditional holidays. She traveled around Ireland and enjoyed visiting her family in County Mayo. Mary was a communicant of St. Anne's parish for 60 years and taught CCD for over 25 years. She was a dedicated and supportive mother and treasured every moment with her family. She loved reading, gardening and going on large family vacations to Misquamicut and York Beaches.
Her greatest joy was being with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Mary loved traditions and hosting parties at the home she cherished. Every Friday night she would host spaghetti suppers and every holiday and birthday celebration would be met with backyard BBQs and pool parties. She will be remembered as a warm, loving and welcoming person and will be missed by all that knew her.
Mary is predeceased by her husband Gerald and her sibling Bernie (Bea), Joe, and Peggy (Chico). Mary is survived by her four children: Bruce Boisselle (Denise) of South Hadley, Brian Boisselle (Tracy) of Chicopee, Mary McCoullough (John) of Wilmington NC, and Kevin Boisselle (Amy) of Hadley, her grandchildren Martha (Evan), Christopher (Jose), Rachel (Travis), Alishia (Paco), Kelsea (Junior), Brianne, Jenna, and Tyler and her great granddaughter Cosette.
