IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maureen Parker
Murray
August 15, 1947 – January 31, 2026
Maureen Parker Murray, 78, of South Hadley, MA, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born and raised in New Bedford, MA, Maureen made South Hadley her home for more than 50 years, living a life marked by kindness, generosity, and a deep devotion to her faith, family, and friends.
Maureen valued education and dedicated her career to the Holyoke Public School System, serving as a teacher and administrator. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others, positively impacting the lives of countless students and forming lifelong friendships with her colleagues.
An active member of St. Patrick’s Church, the Ladies Guild, and the South Hadley Senior Center, Maureen treasured her friends and neighbors on Steven Drive and in the “church group.” She enjoyed summers at the Holyoke Canoe Club, hosting annual Fourth of July gatherings, planning and attending ladies’ lunches, shopping, reading, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Anna Mae Parker, and her brother, Thomas Patrick Parker.
Maureen leaves behind her children, Julie and Tom; her daughter-in-law, Anne; her grandchildren, Parker and Abigail; and a beloved group of “bonus” grandchildren, including Nina, Benjamin, River, Bear, Winter, Caity, and Tres. She is also survived by her sister, Maura Howard, and her longtime companion, James Gagne.
Above all, Maureen was a devoted daughter, caring sister, proud and loving mother, generous grandmother, and kind friend.
Visitation and Funeral: Friends and family are invited to celebrate Maureen’s life on Tuesday February 10, 2026. Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., both at St. Patrick’s Church (30 Main St, South Hadley, MA 01075).
