May F. Brainerd, 96, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, peacefully in her sleep. May was born in Chicopee, daughter of the late Frank Geissler and Esther (Rondeau) Paquette. She was a graduate of Holyoke High School and Married her husband Robert Brainerd in 1947.  Family was the most important thing to May. She was devoted to her grandchildren and would be there at the drop of a hat if needed. She will be missed by all and shared a special bond with her grandson, Christopher, who cared for her many years until her passing. May is predeceased by her husband Robert, a daughter, Sandra Fickett, two brothers; Richard and Kenneth Geissler and a grandson, Jason. She leaves behind two daughters; Cynthia Bombardier and Husband Garry of South Hadley and Linda Brainerd and Husband Roland Desrocher of West Springfield, four grandchildren; Christopher Bombardier of Granby, Melissa Harris and husband Stephen of Newton, Scott Bombardier and wife Jill of Longmeadow and Jeffrey Bombardier and wife Amy of Harvard, and six great-grandchildren; Adysson, Kelsie, Ryan, Tessa, Annabelle and Hugo. A Calling hour will be held for May on Tuesday, July 30th from 10-11am at O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St. South Hadley, MA. Burial to follow at West St. Cemetery in Granby.
