Obituary

Nancy A. Burke, 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. She was born August 23, 1939 to the late Stacy S. McCray and Gladys E. Briggs in Holyoke, MA and she was the youngest of 14 children. She married Raymond H. Burke, Jr. in December 1959, and they were happily married for 55 years until he passed away in March 2015. Nancy graduated from Chicopee High School and briefly worked at National Blankbook before becoming a full-time mother. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, baking, shopping, traveling, collecting antiques, making jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with friends and family. She was a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church in Chicopee. She is survived by her son Thomas Burke of West Springfield; her daughter Cathy Burnham and husband Brian of Biddeford, ME; her son David Burke and wife Debbie of Belchertown; her daughter Sarah Burke and husband Chris Rodkey of Beverly, MA; and her sister, Helen Butcher of Granby, MA. She leaves five grandchildren: Christopher Burnham, Sadie Parkhurst, Jessica Fitzpatrick, Liam Burke, and Brandon Rodkey; as well as five great-grandchildren: Ada Fitzpatrick, Rhys Burnham, June Burnham, Jackson Fitzpatrick, and Miles Burke. She loved her family more than words can say. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours at the O’Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley are Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nancy Burke’s name may be made to Aldersgate Camp & Retreat Center www.campaldersgate.com.
