Obituary

Paul McGough, 79, died Thursday in Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late John and Anita (Goulet) McGough. He attended school in Holyoke and lived there until moving to Northampton in 1985. Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963 as a member of the 3 rd Armored Division in Germany and was there when the Berlin Wall was erected in 1961. One of his proudest moments was seeing it being torn down. He loved reading and college football, especially his Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Paul was a letter carrier for the Westfield Postal Service from 1981 to 2008. He was formerly employed by for 17 years at the former A.G. Spalding Company of Chicopee. He was predeceased by his wife Carol (Rider) McGough in 2005 and his son Jeffrey in 1968. He leaves his children Jeanne Mohan of Northampton, John McGough of LA, Daniel McGough of Northampton and Timmy McGough of Northampton, his sisters Madelyn Paradis of Chicopee and Ann Marie Curran and her husband Ronald of Cape Cod, grandchildren Megan, Eamonn, Hannah, Katherine, John, Liam, Zachary, Ella and Daniel and several nieces and nephews. Paul's graveside service will be Friday January 10 th at 1pm in the Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund.
