Richard A. Gates Sr., 70, died Friday May 1st at Care One in Northampton. He was born in Ludlow, son of the late Norman and Constance Gates. He served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972. He leaves three children Richard A. Gates Jr., of Longmeadow, Kari Gates of Spring Hill, FL and Cherin Gates of Three Rivers, his brother Douglas Gates and his wife Judy of Chicopee and four grandchildren. Rick lived at Care One for over 20 years, and we would like to thank the staff there who cared for him during that time. They were his second family. The funeral and burial at the Mass Veteran's Cemetery will take place at a later date. Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
