Robert C. Henneman, 88, died Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 24, 1932 at Cordes Court, South Hadley. He was raised and educated in Holyoke, MA, graduating from Holyoke High School in 1949. Robert started his banking career after school in Mechanics Savings Bank, Holyoke and continued education in local schools, culminating in Graduate Work at Brown University. He married E. Louise Tyner in 1957. He accepted a position as President of Village Savings Bank, Greenville, NH in 1967 and continued employment there until retirement at age 62. He had a lifelong love of music and sung in Barber Shop Quartet and choruses from age 16 until moving back to Massachusetts. Active in banking schools he served as Trustee for schools held at Williams College, Dartmouth College, Brown University and Fairfield University and in such capacity as for the National Association of Savings Bank for 25 years, longer than anyone in history. Robert was active in church and civic affairs both in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and served as founder and President of the South Hadley Chamber of Commerce. He was President of the Monadnock Region Association and served many years in many capacities of the Monadnock Community Hospital. He served as Greenville Moderator for 19 years as well as Board of Assessors and was an active member of the Peterborough Players and Rotary Club. Because of his wife, Louise's fatal illness, the couple moved back to South Hadley to be closer to family members. After Louise's death, he married his lifelong friend, Beverly Ann Bain Lecca and the couple lived at Loomis Village, South Hadley. Besides Beverly he leaves his sisters: Dorothy Hubbard of South Hadley and Grace Snow and her husband Donald of Southwick and a brother Paul and his wife Caroline of South Hadley. He was predeceased by his sister Erna LaMonthe. Memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
