Shane M. Burns, 32, died Saturday November 5 ^th . He was born in Holyoke and lived most of his life in South Hadley. Shane was active in the Cub Scouts, youth football and basketball and AAU basketball. He was a graduate of South Hadley High School where he played varsity basketball and football. He was a volunteer firefighter at District 2, a master tender, a solar installer and finally landing a job as a fiber optic technician. Shane was a kind, sweet, generous, gentle soul, always willing to help when needed and who was loved by everyone who knew him. He had a passion for his dogs Dallas and Brody. He leaves his parents Michael and Lois (Scheinost) Burns of South Hadley, his wife Kayleigh Schmidt, his brother Marcus Burns, his wife Julia and their children Magnolia and Melanie, all of South Hadley, step-sister Melissa Dorman, her husband Mark and their son Jackson of NH, step-brother Michael Burns, his wife Marina and their daughters Piper and Kaiya of NH, maternal grandmother Diane Scheinost of South Hadley, aunts and uncles Trudy and John Rahkonen of Monson, Debra Avery of Feeding Hills, Carl and Deserie Scheinost of South Hadley, Norman and Jean Burns of West Springfield and many cherished cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Edmund Scheinost, paternal grandmother Janice Bragden, uncle Kris Scheinost and aunt Cindy Berceguay. Calling hours at the O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley will be Wednesday November 9 ^th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral and burial will be private.
