Obituary

William (Bill) Hubbard passed away December 26 th at the Holyoke Soldier's Home. He was born in Springfield, MA September 11, 1939, the son of Margaret and Harold Hubbard. Bill lived in Williamsburg and Leeds, MA, as a child, graduated from Smith's Agricultural School and was recruited by the U.S. Coast Guard serving for six years. He worked for Texon and the Town of South Hadley in the Parks and Recreation Department and the Department of Public Works, retiring in 2001. Bill was a friendly and well-liked man, always kind and generous and ready to help anyone in need. Bill's joys came in little things; nature, birds, animals, gardening and bee keeping. He wrote poetry and was a choir member at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley. He was a proud member of the South Hadley American Legion Post 260 and served as Commander for 20 years establishing the "Honor Guard". Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Loysemarie; a sister, Shirley Salvatore of Belchertown, MA, a sister Barbara Hancock of Arkansas and a brother-in-law, Michael Stoeckard of Chicopee and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Virginia, a half-sister Patty and a brother, Harold. No services will be held at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Organization or to any charity. Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
