William P. Sears passed away at home December 11, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. A loving father and grandfather, William was born on March 18, 1927 in Chicopee, MA to Robert and Mary Sears. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and in his youth, he was a semi-pro quarterback for the Chicopee Falls Braves. He was a member of Carpenters Local 108 and was former vice-president of Johnson Acoustics, where he was employed for over 45 years. He never took a day off of work even while at home he was always keeping himself busy. He was a long-time communicant of St. Patrick's Church of South Hadley and St. Joachim of Sunapee, New Hampshire. A man who was always smiling and never forgot to tell his loved ones, "keep the faith". He had a deep love for his family and always put them first. He leaves his wife of 63 years Joan Sears. Bill and Joan built a home in Sunapee, New Hampshire where they enjoyed entertaining friends and family for over 40 years, summer and winter. They also enjoyed trips out West and to Ireland and Europe. Bill was a member of the American Legion, DAV, and a Navy Veteran of World War II and served on the U.S.S Franklin. He was a life-long Red Sox, and New England sports fan and was always proud to show a picture of him posing with Ted Williams in spring training. He leaves his sons, William Jr. Sears (Trisha) of Granby MA and Bryan Sears (Cherie) of Nevada and his daughter Carolyn Sears- Michaud of CT. He also leaves four grandchildren, Sarah Sears Thompson, Connor Sears of Nevada, Hannah Sears of Brooklyn, NY and Carly Michaud of Old Saybrook. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Carol Kayi. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Robert Sears and John Sears. Also predeceased by sisters in law, Patricia Goodhind and Catherine Moran, brothers in law Henry Moran, Robert Goodhind, and Cengiz Kayi. He also leaves many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff from Holyoke Hospice Life Care for their love and care given. The funeral will be Friday December 18 th starting with calling hours from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home followed by Mass in St. Patrick's Church at 11:30 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow the Mass at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee. Social distancing and masks are required.
