Zaneta (French) Huertas, 39, of Granby passed away at home on Monday, Oct. 17, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Zaneta was born Sept. 9, 1984, in Gorlice, Poland, and came to the United States at the age of 10. She was a gifted artist and craftswoman and had a lifelong love for wildlife. She earned degrees in fine arts and veterinary technology at Holyoke Community College and was certified in wildlife rehabilitation. In 2018 she founded Willow Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation, a rescue service for orphaned and injured animals. She was an avid gardener.
Zaneta's greatest passion was for her family, who take inspiration from her example of determination and fortitude. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Anthony Huertas; her daughters, Analise and Braylin; her father, Allan "Gramps" French, all of Granby; and her sister, Angela French of Burlington, Vt. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Ruth French.
A celebration of Zaneta's life will be held at the convenience of the family.
